Alohahawaiionipaa org (AHOP org) had already testified for years against residential high-rise development in Kakaako along Ala Moana Blvd. mauka (mountainside) because of serious environmental, public safety and infrastructure concerns. It therefore spearheaded the citizen group Coalition to Mitigate the Impacts of Sea Level Rise (CMISLR) to bring research conducted by the University of Hawaii pertaining to sea-level rise and coastal inundation in focus so that it cannot be ignored in decision making by our public officials while also conducting its own photo-documented research.
